How My Thinning Hair Almost Ruined My Life

By Alice Shellington

As a girl the word tomorrow never had much meaning to me. Life had infinite chances. Going to college and playing outside with my buddies was my largest concerns. If you are over the age of 35 you are going to relate to what I'm going to say next.

At present I'm a 42 year old girl with two kids, and a fabulous man. I believed my life was perfect. Then one day as I was going through my morning programme I realized that my hair was thinning. I assumed, well, perhaps its stress. The youngsters are older and more disaffected, and I recollected reading somewhere that stressed caused baldness. I actually did not give it much more thought.

Roughly 30 Days Later

Here I was standing in the mirror once more. I was nearly certain that my hair was thinning, and it had to be more than only stress. As I went through my day, I felt as if everyone that I faced noticed my thinning hair. My self-esteem hasn't ever been so low. My life was spiraling beyond control. I began to distance myself from my kids, my husband, and my co-workers.

I began trying every over-the-counter treatment available from the market. I was continually online looking for miracle solutions. I tried at least a six hair styles. For awhile that caused me to feel slightly better, but the truth is my hair was continuing to fall out.

I read online that dying your hair a lighter colour was a good method to cover up thinning hair. It was suppose to create an illusion that the hair was more dense. It seemed to work for awhile, but the reality is the facts.

After work one day, my man was sat at the table. He asked me if I'd sit down. I thought to myself this was it. I had been so cold that he was going to ask me for a divorce. To my amazement he'd been doing research on hair loss restoration. He knew what I was going through without me ever saying a word to him about it. He explained the pros and cons to me about the procedure.

Six Months After Having a Hair Transplant

My hair looked gorgeous, and the better part was it was my natural hair. It really looked better now than it probably did before it started thinning. I seriously recommend hair restoration to anyone afflicted with thinning hair.

Casting back over everything, I was astonished to learn the psychological effects that alopecia had on me. Thinning hair nearly destroyed my life.
